When applying for electric service, we require a $25 membership fee and a $10 connect fee. The membership fee establishes you as a member-owner of Mississippi County Electric Cooperative.
In addition, a security deposit may be charged. Our standard deposit is $140.00 and is payable in two equal installments; one payment upon application and one payment on your first month's bill. After you have completed 12 consecutive months of payment with no late payments, your deposit will be credited back to your bill. Interest paid on deposits is determined by the Arkansas Public Service Commission and applied to bills annually.
Deposits may be waived by providing one of the following items:
- A letter of credit from your previous electric utility.
- A present member of Mississippi County Electric Cooperative can guarantee payment of your account. The third party must have received service for at least one year from Mississippi County Electric Cooperative, with a good credit standing and sign a Third Party Guarantee.
- By having previously received electric service from Mississippi County Electric Cooperative and maintained a timely payment record.
When applying for service, please bring two forms of Government issued identification (acceptable examples include: Drivers License, State or Federal ID card, Social Security Card, Passport, etc.) and any deposits required. For your convenience, and to speed up the application process, you may print a copy of the Membership Application Form (attached below) to pre-fill and bring with you when you apply for service.
